Formed in 2006, The Stillsons are a gutsy country roots band whose unique 'theme' song writing is shared between the two lead vocalists, Englishman Justin Bernasconi and - Cat Canteri.

Bernasconi began recording the instrumental ukulele track 'Birds' at a run-down backpackers in St Kilda in late 2007. Enduring breakdowns, insomnia and near bankruptcy, they produced ten highly individual tracks that later became their debut album.

'Circus' was released in April 2009 to critical acclaim. Blending pop sensibilities, bush poetry, and echoes of 70's folk rock, Bernasconi and Canteri threw fresh light onto Australian history and modern day issues: droughts; rural youth mental health; domestic violence, The Commonwealth Child Migration Scheme, all are brought to the musical fore.
